Beautiful bogan on a mission

COMEDIAN Marc Ryan, also known as “the beautiful bogan,” is ready to take to the stage for a good cause at 128 Doors Friday night at 6pm.

The free event features the comedian and suicide prevention advocate on his mission to “transform the conversation surrounding mental illness through laughter and personal storytelling”.

“By sharing my story and creating a space for open dialogue, I hope to help others understand that mental health is a shared experience,” Ryan said.

“We need to talk about the tough stuff because it’s real, and it affects us all,” he said.

The beautiful bogan has been making people laugh for over twelve years, performing at numerous events and venues across the country.

Ryan has worked with various organisations and even featured in the ABC show You Can’t Ask That?

The comedian talks openly about his own challenges with mental health, battling PTSD, anxiety, depression and suicidal ideation stemmed from childhood trauma.

Ryan strives to be a “beacon of hope,” as he proves laughter can co-exist with pain as well as displaying how sharing stories can be healing.

Patrons are advised the event is rated MA15+ and parental guidance is recommended for those under 18.

Doors will open at 5.30pm for a 6pm start and free tickets are available via eventbrite.
