Mallee Sustainable Farming get extension agronomist on board

MALLEE Sustainable Farming has appointed an extension agronomist to expand its frontline service delivery across three states.

Louise Brok starts in the new role this week as part of an MSF team delivering research, development, and extension to Mallee farmers in SA, Victoria, and NSW.

MSG executive director David Campbell said: “We are very pleased to add Louise to our team to focus on the translation of our field R&D projects into our extension program.”

Mr Campbell said Ms Brok came with degrees in agricultural science from the highly regarded Massey University in New Zealand, and experience in field trials in new variety development as well as farmer engagement projects around practice change.

“She also has on-farm experience in the Victorian Mallee during the past year, which gives her a good perspective on the issues Mallee farmers face,” he said.

“She will be based out of Merrinee, in northwest Victoria, and cover MSF’s operations across the Mallee regions.

“As soon as Louise walks through the door on Friday, she will be getting out and about to a number of the field events running through the spring to meet with farmer members and hear more about their farming practices.”

Ms Brok said she was looking forward to the new challenges in a new job and a new country.

“It’s great to be joining the Mallee Sustainable Farming team and getting involved in the work MSF does in the Mallee,” she said.

“I am looking forward to getting out and meeting members in the region.”

Hear from Louise in the September issue of North West Farmer.
