Fun is part of the story

THE excitement could be seen on the children’s faces as they arrived for school dressed as their favourite character at St Mary’s Primary School Swan Hill yesterday in preparation for the school’s annual book parade.

Principal Kate Quin said Book Week was a huge calendar item at the school.

“The children read all the shortlisted books and discuss those in class and they are very excited when the winners are announced at the beginning of Book Week,” Mrs Quin said.

“We have been preparing ourselves for the last three or four weeks getting ready for the whole book week scenario and of course the parade today.

“There is always great excitement on book week and that is as much to see what your friends are wearing and what the teacher’s costumes are.

“I’m always so appreciative that families put so much effort in and the children get a lot of fun out of dressing up as their favourite character and also seeing the adults, their teachers and the staff in general getting into the fun of it.”
