Magpies, Tigers in finals preview

WOORINEN v LAKE BOGA

FINALS-bound sides Woorinen and Lake Boga will go head-to-head at Tigerland in a match expected to be hotly contested.

The Magpies put together a complete four-quarter performance against Balranald in wet conditions last Saturday, saving their season and all but locking away a finals appearance for the second-straight season.

But as good as Lake Boga were, they face another test against the Tigers, with the competition keen to see if they can replicate that form on a dry day against an equally dominant opponent.

Jacob Simpson was strong against a second-string Balranald ruck combination, but won’t get things all his own way against the in-form Lachlan Gardner, with the two big men likely to have a major say on which midfield gets on top.

Much of Woorinen’s attacking play starts with onballers Josh Domaille, Jye Barry and Robbie Miller, and it’s these three that Lake Boga will have to find a way to stop if they want to secure their fourth-straight win

Lochie Laing has been sensational for the Magpies since moving to play as a more permanent forward and will take much of the Tigers’ focus, with Doug Beames likely to get first crack at stopping him.

Tip – Woorinen to win by 14 points.
