SATURDAY

8am: Lake Boga Foreshore parkrun is a free, fun and friendly weekly 5km course. Walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate. It’s free but register before your first run. More details at www.parkrun.com.au/lakebogaforeshore

All day: Central Murray league, round 17. Woorinen v Lake Boga, Balranald v Kerang, Tyntynder v Swan Hill, Cohuna v Tooleybuc-Manangatang, NNW United v Mallee Eagles. Koondrook-Barham has the bye.

9am-12noon: Anglican boot sale and cottage craft at the Anglican Function Centre. A large variety of stalls including books, household items, craft, fruit, honey, plants and vegetables. Barbecue and Joan’s scones.

Evening: Italian buffet and live entertainment at Swan Hill RSL Club featuring Paul Rovere.

6pm: Live music at One28 Doors featuring Tara Muscatello.

8pm: Live music at Swan Hill Club. Special performance from Aaron Schembri Band and Rosie Conforto to play the music of their favourite artists from the 50s and 60s.

9pm: Live music at Federal Hotel Murray Downs featuring Scoogs.


SUNDAY

9am: Lakeside Golf Club men’s 27 hole. Assemble at 9am for 9.30am hit-off. 9,18, and 27-hole events in grades. $40 per player. 18-hole adult event and 18-hole junior event. 16 years and under 12 noon hit-off. $30 per player includes lunch.

9am-4pm: Nyah District Pony Club Open Gymkhana. Two open show rings with a combination of open and pony club events in each. Two topsy rings catering for young riders. Activity mount and a new special timed novelties event. All ages fancy dress class.

11am: Lake Boga Park and Brag. Park in the main street from 11am. A gathering of like-minded people who want to show off their toys. Anything with a “rumble”.

10am-4pm: 14th Mallee Almond Blossom Festival is held on the grounds of the Robinvale Community Arts Centre. Come prepared for a wonderful relaxing day sampling and purchasing local produce plus all day entertainment for the whole family. Melbourne-based band Aaron and Rosie as well as local talents, Thea McLoughlan, Revive Band and Get Your Groove On adding a touch of local flair to the event. Children will be delighted with the free entertainment, including a jumping castle, zoo riders and more. Adults $15, concession $10, 16 years and under is free. 12.30pm: Swan Hill Racecourse Bowls Club Tournament. Any combination triples. Entry is $10 per player. Entries close at 11am on day of play.

3pm: Bingo at Swan Hill RSL Club.

7.30pm: Swan Hill Rock ‘n’ Roll Club at Murray Downs Golf and Country Club.


AUGUST 22

9.30am for 10am: Social bowls at Nyah. Names in by 9.30am for 10am start. $10 per person includes lunch.

7.15pm: Bingo at Tooleybuc Sporting Club.

8pm: Old Time Dancing at Murray Downs Golf and Country Club after the draw.


AUGUST 24

6pm-8pm: Barefoot bowls at Tooleybuc Sporting Club. Names in by 5.45pm on the night or message Danielle on 0403 548 149. Open to all ages and abilities. Finger food provided. Wear flat shoes, thongs or come barefoot. No experience necessary


ALL WEEKEND

Saturday 1pm, and Sunday 9am: Swan Hill Cattle Show. Live beef cattle exhibition. Open to the public to come along and catch all the action. On site catering available. Entry by donation.


ALL MONTH

August 5-October 1: Tuesday-Friday, 10am-5pm, Saturday-Sunday, 10am-4pm: Swan Hill Regional Art Gallery footy exhibitions. Discover the perfect blend of art and Australian rules football at Home Ground and Beyond the Boundary exhibitions. A unique experience that celebrates a football culture and creativity through photography, ceramics, paintings and prints.

August 1-October 1: 7pm-11pm: The Gem: The Final Journey exhibition is a celebration of the 60th anniversary of PS Gem’s arrival in Swan Hill. Discover the challenges faced by the crew and learn about their experiences. From 7pm until 11pm every night, projected on the side of the PS Gem is a 13-minute audio-visual presentation documenting this last journey. Free to watch from Monash Drive (just outside the Pioneer Settlement).
