LAST Sunday was the last in a series of shows that had the Swan Hill Town Hall laughing with Ahn Do then, rocking with the Australian INXS Show, and finally two greats of Australian musical theatre and opera enthralled the audience with music and stories from their experiences in theatre.
Tenor David Hobson and soprano Marina Prior stopped into Swan Hill on their regional Australia tour, The Two of Us.
The performers have been friends since they performed their first show together in 1984, the original Australian production of the Pirates of Penzance.
Regaled with a touch of comedy, anecdotes and even the odd shout-out to their favorite footy teams, the performance was an informal showcase that took the audience on a trip through their careers as they performed many numbers from the shows they have performed in.
After the show there was an opportunity for fans to purchase CDs and have them signed by the artists.
The performers said the Swan Hill audience was wonderful – an incredibly warm and lovely crowd.
“We received a standing ovation so you can’t ask for much more than that,” Hobson said.
“It’s a lovely theatre to play in and the local crew was fantastic as well.
“We would love to come back and do another one here.”
