Enduro is a winner

SWAN Hill Motorcycling Club is hopeful the Nandaly Enduro event will become a permanent feature of the local racing calendar.

The inaugural event took place over the King’s Birthday long weekend, when 65 riders took part in two days of action-packed racing.

Swan Hill Motorcycling Club president Tim Harvey said the feedback from racegoers was very positive and they had perfect track conditions over the weekend.

“The rain leading up to the event provided perfect track conditions,” Harvey said.

“They were spot on – you won’t get any better than that.”

Harvey said the deep Mallee sand throughout the course made for a “very fast, fun” track.

He said the club usually held one off-road enduro event each year, and was looking forward to working with the Sea Lake Off Road Club to make this race a permanent fixture on their local racing calendar, so that it could remain part of the Nandaly 300 off-road racing event.

“It’s important to have events like this for the local community.”

Harvey said the event extended beyond the race track, providing a cash injection for some of the region’s smaller communities, including Nandaly and Sea Lake.

“The connection with community is just as important as the event,” Harvey said.

He said the Nandaly Enduro provided the perfect training conditions for the upcoming Penrite Hattah Desert Race.

Dubbed the most challenging off-road race in Australia, the desert race will take place from June 30 to July 2.

Swan Hill will host round two of its motocross series on Sunday, and Harvey urged local residents to come and show their support in what will be a hotly contested event.
