LAKE Boga have cemented their position as the team to beat with a narrow three-goal win over league heavyweights Swan Hill in round 10.
As expected from the two of the top sides in the Central Murray A Grade netball competition, the game was a great one for spectators, with the momentum constantly changing and the margin never going beyond three goals.
Swan Hill playing coach Madeleine Nalder said despite the loss, she and her team were pleased with many aspects of their game, including their ability to adapt when needed.
“Lake Boga are the benchmark of the competition, being undefeated, so we will go away and focus on the things we need to improve on,” she said.
The Swans shooting duo Zoe Morris and Ingrid Condely combined well in the ring under immense pressure from Magpies defenders Jemma Meehan and Sophie Peacock.
Kelsey McCoy and Holly Hogan also went head-to-head in the midcourt in a test of not only fitness but netball smarts.
The win meant the Magpies kept top spot on the ladder, sitting comfortably on 36 points as the only undefeated team this season
However, the loss for the Swans drops them from second to third.
After both sides have a week off with the league bye this weekend, Swan Hill will travel to face Kerang in round 11.
The Blues currently sit just below the Swans on the ladder and will be keen to get another win on the board to help keep them in the top five.
Meanwhile, Lake Boga will next host Tooleybuc-Manangatang in what is expected to be an easy win.
