All tied up on the court

Ultima 32 drew with Moulamein 32

ULTIMA and Moulamein played out a 32-all draw in a well-contested game of netball from both sides.

The Roos led for much of the game and were in control until the last five minutes, with the Swans’ late comeback forcing the two teams to share the points.

Lou Frost was back to her best and paired wonderfully with Bianca Brasser, making it hard for Moulamein’s Meg Rooney and Maddison Wild to score.

The Swans defence in Ellie Henery and Matika Mitchell were pairing equally as effectively at the other end, with Moulamein scoring on the final whistle to level the scores.

Hay 35 d Wandella 31

HAY finally have their first win for the season, outlasting Wandella to secure a four-goal victory at home.

The first quarter was evenly contested by both sides, with scores nine-all at the break.

It was the Bombers defender Kaylee Schipp and the consistent work by Stephanie Lerardo in the midcourt that forced Hay into errors, and by the third quarter, the home side trailed by four goals.

Hay’s defence was outstanding from then on however, with the combination of Hannah Stewart and Emma Johnston applying pressure and making it very hard for Wandella to get the ball into the circle.

A final quarter that held many lead changes ended with Hay in front.

Murrabit 48 d Macorna 35

IN a physical contest at Murrabit, the Blues took the four points with a 13-goal win over Macorna.

Murrabit were made to earn the win however, with the scores all tied up at quarter time, with both teams scoring 11 goals apiece.

The Tigers attacking end looked impressive as Brielle O’Meara fed Emmalea Wishart and Asela Finch with ease.

The accurate shooting of Grace Gillingham and Montannah Keating in the second half allowed Murrabit to ease away, but it was in the last quarter that they stood tall, with the home side going on to win by 13 goals after being up by just five at three quarter time.
