Sow seeds of success

SON Centre Christian School is proud of its values-based education model which includes teaching students about respect, love, compassion, service and excellence through their attitudes, words and actions.

These values allow children to learn in a safe and harmonious environment and helps them to embrace their education.

Set on 25 acres of land, the school’s immaculately landscaped gardens and lawns allow plenty of play spaces and learning opportunities.

Principal Kristy Wilson said one of the highlights of the school was the massive Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden.

“All students use the garden in some way,” she said.

The Prep to grade 2 students learn about planting, maintaining and harvesting a garden while the grade 3 – grade 6 students also cook with the produce that is harvested.”

The school has a BMX bike track which students can use under supervision.

Bicycles and scooters are provided by the school so that everyone can participate.

“Our school has a focus on being active and the bike track is just one of our innovative facilities,” Ms Wilson said.

“We have a recreation oval, indoor/outdoor court space for many different sports and we encourage the students to be active outside as much as possible.”

The school has 34 students enrolled and Ms Wilson said this allowed for small class sizes and a tight knit community where students feel supported.

“Our teachers are very aware of all our students and any supports they may need,” she said.

“The students also know all the teachers within the school, not just their own classroom teacher, and this allows them to feel part of a larger community.

“Transition to new class levels is smooth and easy because the teachers and students already have a relationship.

“We are an inclusive school and welcome all students to our community.

Located on Aerodrome Road, Swan Hill, the school sits just a few minutes out of the city centre.

The school welcomes visitors and encourages anyone interested in seeing what the school offers first-hand to call and arrange a tour.

Tours are best scheduled during school hours to see the students enjoying the facilities and can be booked by calling 5032 4199.
