Making a vow of fun

WITH just 11 rehearsals to go, the Swan Hill Theatre Group is getting excited about its production of The Wedding Singer.

Based on the Hollywood movie starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, the show is a hilarious musical comedy set in the 1980s, and is guaranteed to bring a smile to audience faces.

While director Emily Smith has been involved with the theatre group for a number of years, The Wedding Singer is the first major musical she will be directing – something which she is both anxious and extremely excited about.

“I just saw it on stage for the first time probably like six or seven years ago in an amateur production, and then I saw it again in Melbourne last year, and it’s just a really funny show,” Ms Smith told The Guardian.

“It’s a lot like the movie, really funny, and the songs are really catchy – I just thought that this was the only one I could see myself putting on, something a bit more modern.”

There will be 12 shows, opening on June 9 and running until June 24.

Tickets are now on sale at trybooking.com. For more information about the show, visit the Swan Hill Theatre Group Facebook page.
