Central Murray previews: Eagle returns for Tyntynder

LAKE BOGA v TYNTYNDER

TYNTYNDER will be hoping to fight their way back into finals contention against the team who dispatched them from last year’s finals.

One big name is expected to make a big difference to the Bulldogs’ chances, with full forward Jason Eagle expected to pull on the boots for the first time in 2023, adding potency to the forward line.

Eagle led the Bulldogs’ goal kicking last season and played a lone-hand at times deep in attack, but with arrivals Justin Ellis and Liam Whelan, and the continued development of Patrick Blake, Tyntynder will have a much stronger attacking half.

The challenge will be with providing them with enough opportunities, especially against a Lake Boga side who are traditionally strong through the middle of the ground.

Availability could be a factor, with Lake Boga’s Jacob Simpson having missed last Saturday’s 46-point loss to Cohuna and no guarantee to return.

Another Magpie in doubt must be star recruit Matthew Payne, who was clearly hampered by a leg injury despite being named among the better players against the Kangas.

With both teams expected to fight it out for the final spot in the top five this season, tomorrow’s match looms as a genuine eight-point game – and with the big fella back in the goal square, an upset could well be on the cards.

Tip – Tyntynder to win by two points.
