SWAN HILL v NNW UNITED
NYAH-Nyah West United will be hoping to spoil the Michael Hurley party when they face Swan Hill at the Showgrounds.
The Demons have shown great improvement throughout the early rounds, but as yet don’t have a lot to show for it, with just one win from three matches, leaving them dangerously close to falling off the pack.
Injuries are also starting to hurt, with joint coach Corey Daniels (hamstring) and Rhys Burge (quad) also now joining Alex Erlandson, Jaydyn Stirling and Brady Davidson, among many others, on the sidelines.
Two players who will return will be Dom Gallo and Matt Duffy, giving the midfield an injection of speed, which will be a point of difference against the physically stronger Swan Hill onballers.
Toby Thoolen and Matthew Wade have both started this season on fire, with recruits Brandon Houlihan and Jose Miliado also providing a positive impact.
Swan Hill’s issue over the past few seasons has been hitting the scoreboard, although last Saturday against the Mallee Eagles they kicked 15 goals – a feat achieved just twice last season.
Recruit Zach Mihocek has certainly made a difference in straightening up the Swans and kicked four goals in their 13-point win.
While the inclusion of Hurley – who would be expected to play forward and try to stretch the Demons’ defence – will only add to the Swans’ firepower, the Demons have too much at stake to lose three in a row.
Tip – NNW United to win by 10 points.
