MURRAY DOWNS LADIES

LYNNE Bishop will have a new handicap of 11 next time she steps up to the first tee at the Murray Downs Golf & Country Club.

Sixty three women took out cards in the Stableford event and Bishop’s score of 42 points from her 13 handicap, was equivalent to 79 off the stick.

The runner-up in Division 1 was Diane Martin (19) on a countback ahead of Claris Bourne (26), both on 37 points.

In Division 2, Judi Lonergan (28) and Cathy Darby (35) both scored 40 points, with the former winning via a countback, with Colleen Roberts (30) on 36 points third.

Lois Tippett , Sheila Beard and Rhonda Barrow all scored 35 points to lead the ball pool, while Marg Moore claimed the jackpot on the par 3 11th hole by hitting her tee shot within two metres, with Lynne Bishop, Kathy Parkinson and Janette Tucker collecting the other nearest the pin prizes.

On Saturday, Shelley Wilkins (23) with 3-up won via a countback from Sheila Beard (29), while Anne Webb (1-up) and Jill Bath (square) were the next best.

Sarah Clark and Carol Wiseman were the nearest the pin winners.


MURRAY DOWNS DAD’S ARMY

ON Monday, March 24, the third and final round of the Championships was held, with Tom Wilkins, Barry Ingram and Robert Smith coming in tied on 53 points.

With a playoff played on Wednesday, March 26, Barry Ingram returned the best score of 20 points, taking his total over four rounds to 73 points, ahead of Rob Smith on 72 points and Tom Wilkins on 70 points.

Congratulations to Ingram on being the 2025 Murray Downs Dad’s Army Champion.

This week’s golf on Monday, March 24, saw Raymond Frame and John Brereton return the best score with 20 points, ahead of Robert Smith (19 points), Kevin Maddy (17 points), Barry Ingram (16 points), Barry Bishop (15 points) and Robert Deighton, Ian Dickson and Tom Wilkins (14 points).

Members played the Front Nine on Wednesday, March 26, with the best score recorded by Ingram with 20 points.

He was closely followed by Robert Smith (19 points), Barry Bishop and Tom Wilkins (17 points), Robert Deighton and Damian Kelly (16 points) and Raymond Frame and John Brereton (15 points).

The weekly winner was Robert Smith on 38 points, ahead of Ingram on 36 points, Raymond Frame and John Brereton (35 points), Barry Bishop (32 points), Tom Wilkins (31 points), Robert Deighton (30 points), Kevin Maddy (29 points) and Damian Kelly (27 points).
