Try your luck at St Pat’s Cup

THE Swan Hill Jockey Club is preparing to host its annual St Pat’s Cup on Sunday, March 16.

In celebration of St Patrick’s Day, the event it expected to draw large crowds with its combination of horse racing and family friendly activities.

The event is part of the Country Racing Victoria calendar and is a key fixture in the racing season.

Organisers say they are anticipating a lively atmosphere, with attendees ranging from racing enthusiasts to families looking for a fun day out.

General admission is set at $10 per adult, while children aged 7-and-under can enter for free when accompanied by an adult.

A key feature of this year’s event is the ‘lunch on us’ initiative, which offers a $10 voucher for food and drinks to those who book their general admission tickets in advance.

For those looking for a premium experience, the Think Big Club package is available for $150 per person, providing an upgraded hospitality option.

Gates will open at 11am, with a full program of races set to take place throughout the day.

Racing officials have confirmed that a competitive field of horses will be featured, with a mix of local and visiting trainers expected to participate.

Beyond the racing action, there will be children’s entertainment and hospitality options to cater to attendees of all ages.

Organisers have emphasised the event’s family friendly atmosphere with a fun day out planned.

Swan Hill Jockey Club and Manangatang Racing Club chief executive officer Aaron Garvie said the day will cater to everyone.

“It will definitely be a family-oriented event with plenty of family-based activities alongside the races of course,” he said.

“We encourage the community to come along for a day of races and family fun in support of the club.

“This is an annual race day for us that has been going on for over one hundred years, with 2025 marking our 105th year of running the St Pats Cup.

“We are hopeful that we will see large crowds, expecting to see over 500 in attendance.

“We have horses and jockeys coming from all over Victoria and Australia to come and participate.

“There’ll be lots of family entertainment as well as $10 food voucher for people who purchase general admission tickets.

“It’ll be an entertaining day.”

Event organisers are encouraging attendees to book their tickets in advance as there is limited availability.
