BRIDGET Jones fans will be delighted to see Renee Zellweger reprise her famous role as loveably awkward Bridget when the film’s franchise debuts it’s fourth instalment on February 13 at Showbiz Cinemas.
Bridget Jones – Mad About the Boy is the long-awaited sequel that follows Bridget’s journey as a widow and single mum.
The movie starts four years after the death of Mark and we see 51-year-old Bridget stumbling through the often-awkward world of digital dating.
It’s been eight years since the last instalment of the Bridget Jones franchise was released.
The Swan Hill premiere will suit romantics looking to enjoy a Valentine’s Eve date and will have the added bonus of profits raised from the opening night going towards the Yamagata Student Exchange program.
Yamagata delegate Rob Duffield said funds raised would be used to support the visiting students from Japan as they tour the region ahead of our students heading to Yamagata.
“Our students entirely self-fund their trip to Yamagata but they host the visiting students in their homes first,” he said.
“During the visit, we try to show the visiting students as much of our region as we can, ensuring they get a real sense of what life in the Mallee is like.
“The fundraising we do is to assist with the costs associated with touring the region such as travel costs and entry fees.”
As part of the evening, there will be raffles and door prizes, and cinema snacks and drinks will be available to purchase.

Many popular actors reprise their roles in the new instalment, including Hugh Grant who plays anti-hero Daniel Cleaver.
A notorious lad, Daniel gives a glimpse of his softer side in this film, although Bridget’s love interests are all new characters.
In typical Bridget style, her attempts at dating are hilarious and non-conventional.
In fact, Bridget Jones assumes the role of cougar in this film, taking on a range of younger men, and learns a lot about modern dating along the way.
Leo Woodall ( The White Lotus and One Day) plays one of Bridget’s younger love interests and Bafta-winner Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave) plays another.
Making the dating game extra awkward is the fact Eliofor’s character Mr Wallaker is the schoolteacher of Bridget’s children.
Directed by Michael Morris of Better Call Saul and House of Cards fame, this film has fans wondering if it will be the last in the franchise.
Based upon the books of Helen Fielding who drew from the real-life experience of becoming a widow in 2016, the film twists its way through the landmine of later stage dating.
Is sleeping with someone after six weeks of texting acceptable?
The intricacies of the plot will require fans to book a ticket and watch the film, but what is guaranteed is a hilarious romantic comedy in true Bridget Jones’ style.
