MRI appeal needs you

SWAN Hill District Health is saving generously donated funds in a bid to purchase a magnetic resonance imaging machine for the Swan Hill hospital.

It’s anticipated the total cost of the MRI machine, additional paraphernalia with housing and security, expert trade connections, and specialised room fit-out will be $2.6 million.

Through a variety of donations received, the hospital has already raised $1.4 million.

An MRI located in Swan Hill will have a multitude of benefits, including faster access to diagnostic services without the need to travel.

As part of plans to raise the remaining $1.2 million, The Guardian has partnered with SHDH to keep the community informed of the balance of funds raised and to provide a platform for all community to celebrate donation milestones.

The Mallee MRI Appeal is an initiative of local community members looking to encourage others to get involved with fundraising.

They are asking sporting clubs, workplaces, community groups and individuals to create their own fundraising initiatives.

The slogan, Give Where You Live, encourages all community to make a donation to directly benefit our community, or to organise fundraising campaigns.

The Guardian will publish fundraising tallies and feature supporters and donors on the second Friday of each month.
