The Muston Family goes all out in getting donations for the many raffles to help with the fund raising for the day.

Wednesday’s jackpot bowls was won by John Alderuccio (Murray Downs), Allan Lindsay and Clive Power with two wins and +19 shots, while the runners-up, with one win and +7 shots, were David Jonkers, Dawn Doran and Kevin Saville.

On Sunday, August 18, we have our Ash Roberts Homes any combination triples event, with teams or single entries to Kevin Vivian on 0427 353 243 by 11am Sunday.

SWAN HILL

Friday Frolic will be on again this Friday, weather permitting, with our keen bowlers hoping to dodge the showers.

Swan Hill Bowls accept entries from regular bowlers as well as anyone who is interested in giving bowls a try, along with visitors looking to enjoy a social afternoon.

Entries will be received up to 2.30pm, with a starting time of 3pm, with bowls available to borrow if required.

All players are in with a chance to take home a share of the jackpot after the game, along with the social activities in the club house after the game.

Last weekend, 102 bowlers basked in the glorious sunshine that we were blessed with for our Classic on the Murray tournament in its new time slot.

Two teams won all seven of their games across the two days, with the local team of Gary McGrath (Swan Hill), Anthony Shields (Lake Boga) and Greg Scandalora (Swan Hill) finishing on 21 points and 41 shots up to claim first prize.

The trio edged out the Murray Downs team consisting of Greg Whitla, David Ubergang and Noel Delmenico, who finished on 21 points and 38 shots up.

Third and fourth prizes were also close, with both finishing with 18 points, however Brian Mansbridge (Barham), Glen Scott (Euston) and Matt West (Irymple) finished third with 56 shots up, leaving Brian Lehmann, Kevin Rowe and Mick Hollingworth (Murray Downs) to take home fourth prize on 55 points.

The best game winners to receive their entry money back were the teams skipped by:

Game 1 – Steve Carn (Eaglehawk)

Game 2 – Barry Ansett (Kangaroo Flat)

Game 3 – M. Holyoake (Racecourse)

Game 4 – Ray Wilson (Murray Downs)

Game 5 – David Jonkers (Racecourse)

Game 7 – Chris Powell (Learmonth)

As well as the clubs mentioned above, players also came from Tooleybuc, Donald, Wakool, Nagambie, Nyah, Manangatang, Gunbower, Middle Park, Kerang, Cohuna and Birchip.

The Swan Hill Bowls Club extends their sincere thanks to all the club members and helpers who assisted in any way to make the Classic on the Murray such a huge success.

LAKE BOGA

Very pleasant conditions greeted bowlers at social bowls this week and although we did not have any two-game winners, the teams skippered by Greg Tatom and Terry Haw both had a win and a draw.

Greg’s team of ‘Bones’ Smith and Lyn Maher had a score of plus 14, which bettered the score of plus two against Terry’s team, which consisted of Nickie Davis, Brian Fowles and Ray Leach.

Last week bowlers had plenty of choices of where to play on Saturday, but the pelican jackpot had a field of 29 bowlers.

The winners with two game wins and the highest margin was Arthur Threadgold, Ray Leach and Bob McIntosh, while in second place after losing their first game and winning their second, was Phil Parry, Robyn Jolley and Brian Fowles.

Resting Touchers were won by ‘Bones’ Smith, Jenny Robertson and Basil McDonald, while the jackpot failed to be claimed and will be $297 this week.
