RACECOURSE

JACKPOT bowls on Wednesday was played in cold conditions, with 33 bowlers brave (or silly) enough to participate.

The winners for the day were Norm Smith, Noel Hender and Max Parsons with two wins and +25 shots, while the runners-up, with one win and +6 shots, were Ian Lockhart, Arthur Threadgold and Max Renney.

The jackpot went off, with Ian Lockhart, Arthur Threadgold and Max Renney having the winning number and sharing the $300.

On Sunday, we will be holding our casual dress Tasco Triples, starting at 12.30pm, with names to be in by 11am or to Kevin Vivian on 0427 353 243 any time before Sunday 11am.

The opening day for the new season at the Racecourse Bowls Club will be on Sunday, July 7, with the event to be the Taverna Funerals any-combination triples.

SWAN HILL

DUE to the impending weather conditions the any-combination two-bowl triples planned for this Friday has been cancelled.

Apologies to all those who entered, but we will look at holding the event at a future date.

There will still be the usual Friday afternoon social club activities in the clubhouse, with all welcome to come and join us around the heater.

Next Friday, the normal Friday Frolic will be back on, with a 2.30pm entry time for a 3pm start.

The Swan Hill Bowls Club held their annual general meeting last Thursday, with Michael Balchin re-elected for a second term as president, William King to continue as secretary, David Daly as vice-president and Stuart Tompsett as treasurer, with the other committees displayed on the noticeboard.

President Mick reported on quite a number of improvements that had been done at the bowls club during the year.

Also, our very successful Autumn/May Carnival was held recently, with thanks to carnival secretary Bill King and the many members who assisted, with both outside and inside duties.

The carnival attracted many visitors to Swan Hill and was also enjoyed by a large number of local bowlers, with prizes coveted by both locals and travellers and as such, the Swan Hill Bowls Club is extremely grateful to our many sponsors.

LAKE BOGA

PETER Snell and David Condy bowled exceptionally well this week at social bowls to claim victory with two wins and a score of +44.

Congratulations to the winners of last Saturday’s pelican jackpot in Brian Quaife, Lyn Maher and Sally Meehan with two game wins, while losing their first game and winning their second game with the highest margin were Mac Angus and Kath Parry to finish as runners-up.

The resting toucher awards went to Some Pasco and Keith Anderson, while the jackpot failed to be claimed, so it will be $136 on Saturday, with names to be in by noon for a 12.30pm start.

NYAH DISTRICT

FOR anyone who is interested, the Nyah District Bowls Club’s social bowls is on Tuesday, June 18 and Tuesday, June 25, with names to be in by 9.30am for a 10am start.

Cost is $10 with a light lunch available, with all welcome regardless of whether you are an experienced bowler or not.
