SONIC Speedway fires up again this weekend with a double-header on Saturday and Sunday, featuring Super Rods, Sports Sedans, Street Stocks and Standard Saloons.
Each class features at least 15 cars, ensuring it will be two nights of fast and close racing.
The Super Rods are using both nights as catch-ups on their series event due to a couple of rained-out evenings, so all drivers will be after points.
Current No.1 Jacob Pitcher will be one of the frontrunners, as will Jamie May and Paul Verhoeven, while Jason Kavanagh is retiring after this meeting and will be determined to go out on top.
Family bragging rights will be on the line between the Pitcher brothers, including Bailey, and Peter and Tom Duynhoven, the latter driving his first race.
Luke Cole, Ash Marshall, Bailey Grist, Darryl Bottoms, Adrian Reick, Michael Coad, George Woolstencroft and Corey Degliatis are capable of an upset.
Local Sport Sedan drivers Zoe Salau and Scott Bull will resume their battles for the chequered flag, most recently won by Scott on the last corner.
Both drivers are in great form, with Zoe recently winning a Memorial Feature at Rushworth.
Zac Swanson is a previous winner here and after having bad luck with his car, has gone back to his old car with better results, while Rhys Meakins is also quick but has been plagued by engine issues.
Brothers Reece and Bailey Kakoschke will be out for family bragging rights, as will husband and wife Sarah and Corey Knox, while Brad Simmons, Brad McNeil and Lucas Condor will be pushing the frontrunners all the way.
Other locals include Lachie Bull, who is recently out of the juniors and looks like following in father Scott’s footsteps, while Mia Lamb and Emily Hooten have also moved out of juniors and continue to improve, along with Josh Beattie and Tyson Gleeson.
Street Stocks will be very close and very competitive, with Oggie Ahearn having won here before and going in as favourite.
Mick Dann has been AUS2 and is very quick, as are Steven Watts and Jensen Wilson, who has already won a feature event this year, with Rhys Meakins also expected to be among the leaders.
Tim Hutchinson won a heat in the Australian title and is sorting out his new car, while club president Hayden Glare will be keen to impress in front of his home crowd and will be pushing the leaders all the way and ensuring he stays ahead of brother Lockhlan.
Jack Jordan, Dylan Wilkinson, Dean Whatmore and Jackson Annett continue to improve, as does Miller Throckmorton, who has just moved out of juniors and into his fathers car.
One of the largest fields of Standard Sedans will greet the green flag in what is sure to be a very competitive category.
Local Josh Campbell proved Trevor Evans can be beaten here and will be hoping to do so again, along with Austin Chivers, who has won the last two features at Ballarat and will be hoping to stay ahead of father Dave.
Family rivalry between Aaron and Andrew Marshall will continue, while Aaron Meakins is always consistent, as is Patrick Walsh, who will be putting pressure on the frontrunners along with Sharna Bush and Brad Sheppard, who are sharing a car.
Experienced Kiel Tripcony is only having his second race for the year and is usually quick, as is Troy Higgins, who after experiencing car trouble early in the season is now running more consistently.
Racing starts at 4pm Saturday and 3pm Sunday, gates opening at noon both days. Hot food and drinks are available, but please remember it is a cash-only facility.
