SWAN HILL

SWAN Hill Bowls Club encourages all bowlers to come along for a short game of bowls at its Friday frolic event.

Players can try 10 ends of two-bowl triples or three-bowl pairs, depending on numbers.

All are welcome, including anyone interested in giving bowls a try, with bowls available at the club.

Names must be in by 2.30pm to go into the draw for a 3pm start, with a $5 entry fee and all winners receiving a prize. Every bowler has the chance of cracking the jackpot, which is steadily rising.

Happy-hour drinks, hot snacks and the chance to win one of the raffle prizes are up for grabs, as well as the opportunity to socialise with those of like interests in the clubhouse after the game.

Members are reminded of the club’s annual meeting, to be held at the club, on Thursday, June 6 at 2pm.

As well as the election of office bearers for the 2024-25 season, there are important matters to be discussed regarding next season’s Pennant competition, so come along and have your say, as your input is of value.

The club congratulates Vic Plumridge, Owen Lewis and Bill King on their success at Lake Boga’s President’s Day event last Saturday after the trio came home with first prize.

In the 58th May Autumn Carnival, lucky cards were drawn on the days that were afternoon-only events, with a total of 22 lucky bowlers receiving a bottle of wine from one of our sponsors, Andrew Peace Wines.

Bowlers attended from many parts of Victoria, with bowlers from as far south as Loch and Korumburra, while Les Brook came from Western Australia to play with his brother, Peter Brook (Murray Downs) and another from Queensland to join friends.

An apology is due to David Manning from Truganina, who was printed as Dave Matthews.

We thank bowlers from our local clubs for playing in the carnival and helping swell our numbers, with local players taking out quite a few prizes and proving they can match it with the visitors, which helped create a friendly atmosphere.

All are looking forward to returning for next year’s carnival, with many taking home entry forms and some having already filled theirs out with tournament secretary Bill King.

Swan Hill Bowls Club sincerely thanks all who played in events over the 10 days, as well as the sponsors and our club members and helpers that volunteered their time for both outside and inside duties during the carnival.
