KERANG will host the Victorian State Concert Orchestra (VSCO) on Sunday June 2 as a part of the 2022 flood recovery funding.
Gannawarra Shire Council and the Kerang Musical Society are working in tandem to bring the ensemble of 45 musicians to Kerang Memorial Hall.
The music will be supported by two soloists, soprano Veronica Iredale and tenor Nicholas Matters, under the direction of conductor Gerald Keunemann.
The group has been performing around regional Victoria for almost a century with a mandate to provide high-quality light entertainment that’s accessible and affordable, especially to those Victorians in rural and regional areas who have suffered from natural disasters.
Gannawarra Council CEO Geoff Rollinson said the VSCO had been performing across the state for close to 100 years.
“The council is pleased to have partnered with the Kerang Music Society to bring this talented group to the Gannawarra,” Mr Rollinson said.
“Gerald Keuneman has performed with the likes of Frank Sinatra, Elton John, Olivia Newton-John, Anthony Warlow, and Sammy Davis Jr and will guide the current incarnation of the orchestra through classics and contemporary pieces.
“It does not matter whether you are a fan of Bach, Mozart and Tchaikovsky or musical theatre, the Victorian State Concert Orchestra caters for all interests.”
Kerang Music Society member Angela Ginnivan said the concert was a very rare and affordable opportunity to see and hear a live performance by accomplished orchestral musicians without the expense of travelling to a distant city venue.
Tickets to the event are just $10 and children under 16 will be admitted free.
This also includes afternoon tea.
It is funded by the Victorian and Commonwealth governments under the Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) as part of the Gannawarra Community Flood Recovery Program.

If not booked out, tickets will be available at Kerang Memorial Hall on the day.
