Yarns and yodels in show

BRAD Cox will grace the stage at the Swan Hill Town Hall next Saturday with a show that’s a little different to what audiences usually expect from the country musician.

This will be a solo performance offering an intimate and up-close experience that will bring his versatility as an artist and not a full rock band show.

The Yarns and Yodels tour of regional Australia has a good mix of both old and new favourites from the “Coxy” catalogue.

He is also looking at getting a few laughs along the way, with an infusion of distinctive humorous storytelling.

Fans can look forward to a rich and diverse showcase of Cox’s talents, spanning from upbeat country pop to moving piano ballads.

Cox said the concept for the Yarns and Yodels shows was born out of the pandemic.

“After stripping back the show to an acoustic, sit-down, solo setting during lockdown, I fell in love with the format again,” he said.

“It forced me to re-learn songs and play them as they were written.

“Me, a bottle of wine, and the shits with the world – that’s the formula for good songs.

“I enjoyed it so much, I wanted to recreate these shows, but take it one step further and out of the pubs and into intimate theatres.

“I have road-tested it a bunch of times and now I am keen to take it far and wide.

“Who knew this little fat kid from the snow could muster up a few funny yarns and get a proper belly laugh out of the crowd.”

The solo tour comes on the heels of the success of Cox’s third studio album Acres that topped the ARIA Country Charts and the highly successful 2023 Acres Tour that sold more than 30,000 tickets , playing to packed houses across metro and regional audiences throughout Australia.
