Around the Churches

Anglican

LAST Sunday the church was adorned with palms and members of the congregation each received a small palm cross as a reminder of Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem, followed by His crucifixion and then rising to new life.

Tomorrow (March 29) is Good Friday, a sombre service recalling the death of Jesus. Hot cross buns acknowledge this.

Then on Easter Sunday we joyfully celebrate that He rose from the dead and is alive to save us. Hence, we exchange Easter eggs, a sign of new life. Give thanks and have a happy and Holy Easter.

Grain Shed

EASTER is here, and following on from last Sunday, Pastor Jodi spoke to us on “Why the Cross” at our Palm Sunday service.

Please join in the celebrations tomorrow (March 29), 10am, and Sunday, 10am. All are welcome, regulars, locals, holidaymakers, family and friends.

“We know that our old life, our old sinful self, was nailed to the cross with Christ. And so the power of sin that held us was destroyed.

“Sin is no longer our boss. When a man is dead, he is free from the power of sin. And if we have died with Christ, we believe we will live with Him also.

“We know that Christ was raised from the dead. He will never die again. Death has no more power over Him. He died once but now lives.

“He died to break the power of sin, and the life He now lives is for God. You must do the same thing! Think of yourselves as dead to the power of sin. But now you have new life because of Jesus Christ our Lord. You are living this new life for God.” – Romans 6:6-11 NLV.

Jesus’ resurrection gives us hope for new life and eternal salvation. It’s a reminder of God’s power and love for us, even in our darkest moments.

Be encouraged to use this time to reflect on what the cross and resurrection mean for us, deepening our understanding of God’s love and grace.

Throughout the holidays all of our inhouse activities are having a break and for all, on the road travelling, or just staying around home, may God keep you safe and His peace be with you.
