TOOLEYBUC

BOTH our division 2 and division 4 teams played Murray Downs last Saturday in the Weekend Pennant and despite everyone’s best efforts, we went down in both matches on all rinks to a stronger combination.

In the Midweek Pennant, our Tooleybuc team also played Murray Downs (team 5) at Murray Downs and were looking for redemption. This time we turned the tables and ran out convincing winners, winning both rinks and finishing 38 shots up.

Last Thursday, November 11, Kess Smith played in the State 60 and over singles for the first time and after having a bye in the first round, she was then matched against Doreen Weaver in the next game. Kess played well, but unfortunately went down to the more experienced Doreen 16 shots to 21 – great effort Kess!

The men’s and ladies’ state pairs was played on Sunday at the Swan Hill Bowls Club in cold and blustery conditions. Congratulations to Trish Armstrong, who paired up with Murray Downs player Marilyn Hagley in winning their ladies’ section with one win and two draws. The Midweek Pennant on Tuesday gave us a morale boosting win overall, taking home the victory by two shots, with Mary’s team coming from well down at the break to get within four shots – and with veterans Thelma Watson and Simon Wynne on top on the other rinks.
