The Murray Valley Playing Area held the 60 and Over State Pairs last week, with Judy Husson and Norma Scott (Swan Hill) winning, with Heather Mitchell and Wendy Murphy (Balranald) finishing Runner’s-Up.The Men’s 60 and Over Pairs will play their semi-finals next Thursday, December 2nd at Swan Hill.

The winners were – Section 1 – Kevin Rowe/Mick Tempini (Murray Downs). Section 2 – Garry McCaig/Doug Fisher (Murray Downs). Section 3 – Graeme Bennett/Norm Smith (Racecourse). Section 4 – Vic Plumridge/Geoff Coulter (Swan Hill).The Final of the 60 and Over Men’s and Ladies Singles will be played at 9.30am on Thursday, December 2nd. The Men’s Final will be between Les Barnes (Lake Boga) and Norm Smith (Racecourse).

LAST Saturday saw our Division 2 side record their first win of the season, beating Swan Hill with two rinks to one and twenty shots up.

Best win of the day was by C.Jackson’s rink, who comfortably won by 22 shots.

Division 4 hosted Racecourse 6 and despite battling hard, were defeated on both rinks and by 23 shots.

I. Hickey’s team was the best on the day, narrowly going down by three shots.

This week sees Division 2 travelling to Manangatang and Division 4 playing at home against Manangatang 2.

Our midweek team are going well and this week they played at home against Manangatang, recording another great win on both rinks and winning by 26 shots.

Next week they play Racecourse 3 at Racecourse.

Also, good luck to those playing in the State Singles on Sunday at Murray Downs.

CONGRATULATIONS to our new Ladies Singles Club Champion, Helen Frame – this is only Helen’s second year playing bowls.

It was a great game against Mikaela Evans, with the final score ending up at 25 to 22.

Jackpot bowls on Wednesday afternoon was won by Don Poulton, Kevin Vivian and Peter Hooper, with 2 wins and 6 shots.

Runners-Up with 1 win and 10 shots was Peter Snel and Bob McIntosh.

Wednesday night bowls was won by ‘The Thundercats’ – David Jonkers, Brad Grist and Kellie Richardson with 14 plus shots.

Well done to Glen McIntosh and Norm Smith on winning the Murray Valley State Pairs on Sunday in what was a very close game, with the final scores 16 to 14.

Good luck to all our players playing in the State Singles on Sunday at Murray Downs and to Graeme Bennett and Norm Smith in the Sixty and Over Pairs semi-finals on Thursday December 2 and to Norm Smith who is in the Final of the Sixty and Over Singles which is also on Thursday December 2, with both events to be played at Swan Hill Bowls.

LAKE Boga Bowling Club is holding our Spring Classic – two bowls triples, four games of fourteen ends, held on Sunday November 28 with a 9.30am start.

Prize money is $900 with all welcome, and lunch and afternoon tea provided.

Social Bowls is on every Thursday evening, with names to be in by 7pm, to start play by 7.30pm.

We would love to see some more players – it’s a great fun night, come along and have some fun.

In last week’s results, our Saturday Pennant Division 3 team had a good win over Swan Hill, winning by 28 shots, while both teams in midweek pennant had good wins this week, well done all.

Wednesday social bowls winners this week were John Sutton, Les Grey and Ken Hamill – with the Runners-Up being Mary Lynas, Brian Fowles and Terry Haw.

Congratulations also to Judy Wilson and Lisa Critten for winning the Ladies’ Pairs championship.
