MVPA NOTES

PRELIMINARY rounds of the Men’s and Ladies’ singles were played at Murray Downs on Sunday at 9.30am.

The Ladies’ final will be between Judy Wilson (Lake Boga) and Mikaela Evans (Racecourse).

The Men’s semi finals will see Josh Thornton (Murray Downs) playing Buck Lehmann (Murray Downs) and Brian Quaife (Swan Hill) up against Ken O’Bree (Murray Downs) starting at 9.30am, with the final to be played at 12pm.

Monday December 6 is the closing day for entries of the MVPA State Triples, to be played at Lake Boga on Sunday, December 12.

MURRAY DOWNS
THE State Men’s and Ladies’ singles events are being held at Murray Downs this Sunday morning, starting at 9.30am.

Murray Downs has three members in the men’s semi-finals – with Buck Lehman playing Josh Thornton and Ken O’Bree playing Brian Quaife – great effort and good luck to everyone.

Social bowls winners last week were Graeme Steele and Joe Sapuppo.

TOOLEYBUC

BOTH our Division 2 and Division 4 teams played against Manangatang last Saturday.

Division 2 travelled to Manangatang and some close games were had on all 3 rinks, however, they did not go in our favour, as we went down by 7 shots overall.

Division 4 played at Tooleybuc and despite I.Hickey’s rink recording their first win, we still went down by 5 shots overall.

This week, Division 2 play at home against Balranald and Division 4 will travel to Lake Boga.

Midweek Pennant was played at Racecourse this week and again the scores were very close.

Unfortunately, we went down on both rinks and four shots overall.

Next week they play Balranald at home.

Reminder to those players that are still required to play their Singles matches to have your games completed by the due date.

OUR popular Friday Frolic will be on this afternoon, with social drinks and snacks afterwards – everyone is welcome.

Our Christmas party is on Saturday December 18 with the function to start after bowls that afternoon – please put your name on the noticeboard sheet for catering purposes.

RACECOURSE

CONGRATULATIONS to Mikaela Evans on making the final of the Murray Valley State Singles, she will play Judy Wilson of Lake Boga on Sunday morning at Murray Downs.

The winners of Jackpot Bowls on Wednesday were Graeme Bennett, Kevin Vivian and Max Renney with two wins, while the runners-up were Glenn McIntosh and Phil Parry.

Our Christmas dinner will be held on Saturday December 11, please have your names on the board by Wednesday December 8.

LAKE BOGA

WEDNESDAY December 1 social bowls winners were Grant Davies, Ron Atkinson, Keith Anderson and Terry Haw.

Runners-Up were Richard Bruton, Ted Hyland and Alex Jobling.

Congratulations to our midweek team, with Division 2 having a good win over Manangatang and Division 1 losing by only one shot against Racecourse.

The great news is both teams are on top of the ladder.

Lake Boga held their Spring Classic on Sunday November 28 in perfect weather, with many thanks to all the helpers and players.

Winners on the haywire were Steve Usher, Calvin Walsh and Phil Cooper from Tongala, with Dallas Mathers, Rick Parr and Mark Southern from Cohuna finishing second and Andy Jeffs, Nic Jarman and Howard McClelland finishing third.

We will hold our Christmas party on December 18 at 6.30pm at the club rooms with a casserole tea – can everyone please bring a casserole along.

On duty Wednesday December 8 is Basil McDonald and the cleaning roster for Thursday December 9 is Nola and Richard Bruton, Robyn Jolly and Ray Leach.
