Murray Downs Sink Lake Boga

Murray Downs continued on their winning way at the weekend, claiming their tenth straight victory to remain undefeated this season.

Lake Boga were no match for the ladder leaders, with Murray Downs claiming victories on all three rinks for a comfortable 81 to 49 shot win.

The combination of Brian Lehman, Garry McCaig, Ken O’Bree and John Alderuccio had the easiest win of the day on rink two, defeating the Ray Wilson led quartet by twelve shots – 28 to 16.

With Josh Thornton leading his team to an eleven-shot win and John Caldwell doing likewise with a nine-shot victory, the premiership favourites would go on to record a dominant 32 shot win and remain unbeaten.

Like Murray Downs, Racecourse secured the full twelve points on offer on Saturday afternoon – and moved into second place on the ladder as a result of their 21-shot win over Swan Hill.

Mark Snel, along with teammates Dylan Weaver, Neville Smith and Mikaela Evans, set up Racecourse’s win with a 35 shot to 18 result over Brian Mansbridge and his team.

The scores were much closer on the other two rinks, with Michael Holyoak securing a three-shot win and Norm Smith and his quartet defeating the Gary McGrath led combination by just one solitary shot.

In the final game of Division 1 Weekend Pennant, Moulamein took a stranglehold on a top four berth by defeating Nyah District at Moulamein.

With Nyah District claiming a three-shot win on rink three and Moulamein taking a four-shot win on rink one, the difference between the two teams was in the middle, where Aaron Worboyes had a dominant 31 shot to 17 victory over Bryan Smith.

With just two rounds left to play before the commencement of finals, the win gives Moulamein a stranglehold on fourth position with a fourteen-point lead over Nyah District on the ladder – and will mean the Demons now need to secure unlikely wins against both Murray Downs and Racecourse – the top two teams – in order to see finals action.
