Bowls notes February 25

MURRAY VALLEY PLAYING AREA

THE MVPA state fours were played at Nyah on Sunday, Racecourse’s women Val Lindsay, Lyndal Taylor, Alannah Taylor and Helen Frame were successful.

They won two games and tied the third, runners-up on two wins were Tooleybuc’s Trish Armstrong, Danielle Adams, Lyn Fox and Kassada Smith.

The men played their sections, Murray Downs’ Kevin Rowe, David Alderuccio, Daryl Barry and Mick Tempini won section 1.

The second Murray Downs combination of Josh Thornton, Buck Lehmann, John Caldwell and Garry McCaig won section 2, the final will be played on Sunday.

The State Novice Singles finals will be played at Mulgrave on Sunday, MVPA representatives are both from Racecourse.

Helen Frame and Shane Domaille, good luck from all the Murray Valley players.

Our Division 1 Weekend Pennant team went straight through to the Grand Final,

Division 2 play Balranald this weekend and our Division 3 teams play each other.

Division 4 also play this weekend, all matches to be played at Murray Downs, good luck to everyone.

The men’s and ladies’ state fours were played last weekend at Nyah, two Murray Downs men’s teams won their section and they will now play off to progress to the final.

CONGRATULATIONS to Val Lindsay, Lyndal Taylor, Alannah Taylor and Helen Frame on winning the Murray Valley State Fours at Nyah on Sunday collecting two wins and a draw.

Well done to Mikaela Evans on winning the club’s Ladies’ 100 up competition from Helen Frame.

The winners of jackpot bowls on Wednesday February 16 were Bryan Bice, Trevor O’Shannessy and Allan Lindsay on two wins and + 12 shots, runners-up on one win and + 11 shots, were Rob Hayes, Ken Duthie and Bob McIntosh.

On Wednesday, February 23 the winners were Peter Snel, Dawne Holland and Max Renney on two wins and + 18 shots, runners-up were Val Lindsay, Kevin Vivian and Peter Hooper on one win and + 9 shots.

Congratulations to our Team 2, Team 3 and Team 4 on advancing straight into the Grand Finals of Saturday Pennant, Team 1 and Team 7 will play tomorrow at Murray Downs for the chance to play in the Grand Final.

Division 1 Midweek pennant side Team 1, won its way into the preliminary final, and Team 3 has a second chance after losing to Balranald in Division 2.

All the very best from all the club members to Helen Frame and Shane Domaille on Sunday, who will be playing at Mulgrave Bowls Club in the finals of the State Novice Singles, go Racecourse.

Racecourse’s Invitation Mixed Fours will be held on St Patrick’s day, March 17.

We are taking entries for our Country Care Group Classic, it will be held on Tuesday 29, and Wednesday 30, March.

CONGRATULATIONS to our Division 1 team who all played a well-fought game to beat Moulamein last Saturday, keep up the good form tomorrow against Racecourse.

Congratulations also to our midweek Division 1 team who beat Lake Boga and will be in the grand final on March 8.

Ninety players from far and wide are playing in the Classic on the Murray and enjoying our greens and facilities, final results will be in next Friday’s Guardian.

Friday Frolic is on today at 3pm, the jackpot is worth $200, and if not won, the draw will continue until a lucky team wins a guaranteed $100. All are welcome.

President’s Day Mixed Fours will be on Monday March 14, with a 12:30pm start and Bill King is taking entries on 0428 324 083 or Club House on 5032 1772.

LAKE BOGA

WINNERS of social bowls on Wednesday were Terry Haw, Kathy Clifford, Richard Bruton, and Mary Lynas, runners-up were Ray Leach, Brian Fowles, Faye Atkinson, and Rod Dewhurst.

On duty for the next two weeks are Ray Leach and Nola Bruton.

Winners of Thursday night bowls were Awesome Foursome and runners-up were Hamills Hornets.

Some matches for the 100 Up will be played Saturday morning, please try and organise matches for then.

Next Tuesday we have the midweek Preliminary Finals at Lake Boga, Lake Boga are playing Racecourse in Division 1 and Racecourse play Nyah District in Division 2.
