RACECOURSE

THE winners of jackpot bowls on Wednesday were Rob Hayes, Phil Parry, Marg Smith and Max Renney, with two wins and +25 shots. Runners-up, with one win and +8 shots, were Bryan Bice, Kaye Roberts and Noel Delmenico (Murray Downs). The jackpot went off with Glen McIntosh, Ernie Russell and Sheena Coe (Nyah District) having the lucky number.

On Sunday, September 21, we have our Ash Roberts Homes Mixed Triples, starting at 12.30pm, with names to be in to Kevin Vivian on 0427 353 243.

Our next Friday night tea is on Friday, August 26, with double members’ draw and raffles. The choices for tea are chicken mignon, roast lamb or steak and mushroom pie. Names must be on the board by Wednesday, August 24.

The Muston family are running their Honour Board Triples Tournament on Saturday, September 3, with a 9.30am start. This tournament is a casual dress affair, with all proceeds from the bowls and the raffles to go to the Cancer Foundation.

The bowls club has its AGM for the elections of board members on Wednesday, September 21, with notices of motion to be in the hands of the secretary by Monday, September 5.

SWAN HILL

SWAN Hill Bowls Club Opening Day is on Sunday, August 28, sponsored by Ray White Real Estate. Teams and single entries are being accepted by Bill King 0428 324 083 or Swan Hill Bowls 5032 1772. Alternatively, call by the club and put your name on the sheet on the notice board. Starting time 12.30pm with entries to close by 10am on the day.

If you have been hibernating or holidaying in warmer places during the wintry weather, it is now time to polish up the bowls, press your uniform and brush up your skills, ready for the pennant season.

Recent Wednesday social bowls winners have been:

August 10: B. Richardson, A. Smith and Ken Grey.

August 17: G. Clark and B. Hill.

M. Parsons, B. and R. Waldron hit the jackpot two weeks ago at Friday Frolics. It doesn’t take long for the jackpot to increase and Frolics will be on Friday, August 19. Need to play to be in there with a chance. Enter by 2.30pm for a 3pm start. All welcome to join in, no experience necessary. Enjoy nibbles, drinks and social activities after the game.

LAKE BOGA

LAKE Boga Bowls will be holding their opening day for the 2022-23 season on Saturday, September 3, at 1pm. Parsons Bulk Haulage, Any Combinations Fours with $600 prize money. Entry is $10 or $40 per team, with entries to close September 2 or when full. Entries to Ken Hamill 0408 591 256 or Rod Whickham on 0447 382 007, with everyone welcome.

Winners for last Saturday were Max Parsons, Marg Smith and Peter Snell, while the runners-up were Phil Parry, Terry Haw and Leigh Kingsbury. Jackpot will now go to $324. Names in by 12.30pm to start play at 1pm. See you all there on Saturday, August 20, for jackpot bowls.

Lucky draw winners were Bob McIntosh, Max Lord, Max Parsons, Jill Pye, Peter Snell Alex Jobling and Rod Dewhurst.

Winners for Wednesday were Lyn Maher, Les Grey, Shirley Swan and Noel Hender. Runners-up were Rod Dewhurst, Amber Moynihan and Greg Clifford. A great day with three games of seven ends played and each team member had to skip one of the games. Great learning and lots of fun.
