Last Tuesday, the club hosted 44 bowlers from the Geelong friendship group and had another great day with them. Winners were Ray Bennett, Barrie Free, Daryl Biviano and Max Parsons, while the runners-up were Ray Leach, Ken McIntyre, Kevin Cornell and Peter Graham.

Social bowls next Wednesday will start at 1pm and Richard Bruton will be on duty.

Please note that on Tuesday, October 4, the club will have a Pennant practice for all players who intend to play mid-week pennant at 10am.

SWAN HILL

ON Wednesday this week, the Swan Hill Bowls Club enjoyed a visit from Geelong bowlers on a goodwill friendship tour of the area. Unfortunately, the friendly game of bowls that was to be played with local bowlers in the afternoon had to be cancelled due to the weather. However, this didn’t dampen the friendly atmosphere at the club, with lunch and an evening meal being enjoyed by all who participated. A few card sharps made the most of a pack of cards, while others filled in their afternoon in various ways.

Sincere thanks to all Swan Hill members who made the day a success, especially the ladies who prepared the meals.

Our RSL Diggers Day to be held this Sunday has been cancelled due to clashes with other events and the lack of entries. We plan to reschedule this event to a future date.

Members ahould note the Kerang practice match on Saturday, October 1 at Swan Hill, with an 11am start and barbecue lunch. Please put your name on the sheet on the noticeboard. Weekly practice with the coach is on Thursdays at 4pm.

An inaugural Calcutta Melbourne Cup event is being held at Swan Hill Bowls Club on Sunday, October 30. Further details are to come, or ring Mick on 0428 553 913.

The weather looks like all will be fine for today’s Friday Frolic, 3pm start, with the usual social activities after the game and all welcome.

Bowlers, it is time to make sure memberships are paid up, to be eligible for Pennant and competition games.
