SWAN HILL

Last Saturday, October 1st, the pennant practice/challenge match between Swan Hill and Kerang was played at the Swan Hill Bowls Club, after being in recess since 2015, with over sixty keen players in action. Kerang got off to a flying start in the first game, with Swan Hill closing the gap in the second round, however, Kerang came out on top at the end of the day, taking home the trophy that had been dusted off after seven years in hiding at Kerang. B.Mansbridge, B.Richardson, R.Fields and D.Mitchell were the best winning rink for Swan Hill.

Many thanks to the ladies that prepared the salads and barbeque lunch, especially the two that cooked the barbeque, which was enjoyed by all. To our greenkeeper and other helpers, well done. A most successful, friendly day all round, plus the weather was perfect.

Social bowls winners from Wednesday, September 28 were Graeme Clark and Alex Hill.

J.Huson, R.Dorigo and A.Hill emptied the jackpot at Friday Frolic on September 23. The weather forecast for today is not looking very good for bowling, if there’s no bowls, happy hour and Mick’s raffles are still happening and all are welcome to come along and enjoy.

Saturday pennant starts tomorrow and Midweek on October 11. This Friday afternoon would be a good time to catch up with fellow bowlers, with all three teams to play away tomorrow, while both Divisions 1 and 2 are home on Tuesday. Teams are displayed in the window, please be sure your memberships are paid – you must be a financial member prior to playing.

Bowlers are wished all the best for a happy, enjoyable bowling season and we welcome our new members that are taking part in their first season of pennant with us.

Contact Mick on 0428 553 913 for details of the Inaugural Melbourne Cup Calcutta being held at the Swan Hill Bowls Club on Sunday, October 30, with a 1.00pm start and $5 entry fee. This event is gaining interest.
