SWAN HILL

Our bowlers were very happy to be able to play their pennant bowls on Saturday after so much rain last week.

Swan Hill’s Division 4 team recorded a two rink win against Racecourse 5 and were our only team to take out the honours to date.

Some players are still returning after not being available for various reasons, with Division’s 1 and 2 both looking for improved results tomorrow.

Our Midweek teams are also aiming for better results. Players for both Saturday and Tuesday Pennant teams need to bear with the selectors, when team changes need to be made week to week.

Social bowls was enjoyed on Wednesday in pleasant weather conditions, with Graeme Clark and Ken Grey taking out the prize money. We welcome all bowlers who would like to join us – please put your name in before 1pm.

Friday Frolic will be on today – weather permitting and will be followed by the usual activities in the clubhouse, with happy hour and raffles to go ahead regardless.

Next Thursday, October 27, the Murray Valley State 60 and over pairs are to be played at the Swan Hill Bowls Club, with entries to close on Monday at 5pm.

See Bill King regarding entering, as entries have to be done on-line. Lunch will be available at the club, please order on arrival.

Also, please contact Mick on 0428 553 013 in regards to the clubs inaugural Melbourne Cup Calcutta, which is being held Sunday, October 30 at 1pm if you wish to take part in a fun afternoon at the Swan Hill Bowls Club – with light snacks to be served.

Our Melbourne Cup Luncheon returns after being cancelled during the last two years of Covid, with a two-course luncheon, chicken and salads, sweets and a free glass of bubbly or orange juice for $25. Sweeps, afternoon tea after a short game of bowls for those wishing to play and novelty prizes. Please put your names on the sheet on the notice board for catering – separate sheet for bowls entries.

LAKE BOGA

Winners of Wednesday social bowls were Ken Hamill, Jeannie Leach and Basil McDonald, while the runner’s-up were Shirley Swan, Max Lord and Barb Davies. On duty next week is Terry Haw.

Last Saturday was a good day in pennant for Lake Boga, with all teams having a win.

We will be having a Melbourne Cup Day Luncheon with novelties on Tuesday, November 1 at the clubhouse from 11am, with the cost being $10 each – please bring a salad. Please put your names on the list on the board for catering purposes.

TOOLEYBUC

Saturday pennant was held over at Lake Boga last weekend and the end result was close.

Tooleybuc went down by three shots overall and despite winning two rinks on the day, it was not quite enough to get over the line.

Hopefully we have better luck next week when Tooleybuc play at Murray Downs against Murray Downs 5.

Midweek pennant was played at Racecourse and Tooleybuc won one rink and lost the other against a much stronger Racecourse team, with Racecourse being the victors on the day by 16 shots.
