SWAN HILL

PENNANT bowlers will be back in action this Saturday, after having last Saturday off while the Victorian Open took precedence.

Swan Hill’s three teams all play at home and will be looking for better results than the week before the break, while midweek pennant will also be back in action this Tuesday.

It has been decided to hold our Christmas party on Saturday night after bowls, given that all bowlers play at home, with the night to start at 6.30pm for 7.00pm.

We know this is short notice, however there are a number of outside bookings for our club in the weeks leading up to Christmas.

The meal will be pizzas, salad, fruit salad and ice cream. There will also be no charge, with raffles held to cover costs.

All are welcome, including wives and partners, children and friends. Add some festive spirit, wear something Christmassy and bring it to bowls with you for a quick change or add on.

Santa will be in attendance as well, so please put your names on the sheet on the notice board for catering purposes.

This Wednesday, Brian Quaife again featured in the winning team and was supported by Fred Burge and Kessada Smith.

The jackpot has passed the $100 barrier, so come along to Friday Frolic today for your chance to be part of the lucky team. Names to be in by 2.30pm. Stay afterwards to enjoy some friendly banter in the clubhouse after the game.

On Sunday, the finals of the State Singles will be played at the Swan Hill Bowls Club. Murray Downs and Racecourse will feature in the ladies final, while three Racecourse players, along with Murray Downs Josh Thornton, will contest for the men’s title. Come along to watch some good bowling from 9.30am.

LAKE BOGA

We had a great roll-up for our barefoot bowls last Thursday night, with 16 teams competing. The winners were Davies Dynasty, Grant, Craig, Barb Davies and Lisa Brady. Runner’s-up were Courtney’s crew, which consisted of Courtney and Matt Elliot, Matt Taverna and a visitor.

Wednesday’s social bowls winners were Greg Clifford, Keith Anderson, Anthony Smith and Jean Leach. On duty next week will be Basil McDonald.

Tomorrow’s game against Moulamein in Division 1 has been postponed to a later date as the Moulamein players are unable to come across due to the floods in their area – we wish them well in their battle with the floods.

Division 1 will instead have a practice match between themselves at 1.30pm on Saturday.
