Bowls double for Norm Smith

SWAN Hill Racecourse Bowls Club president Norm Smith had a day out in the grand finals of the Murray Valley Playing Area 60 and Over competition.

Smith took home the men’s singles title for the third time before linking up with Graham Bennett of Racecourse to double up the premiership glory in the men’s pairing.

Down 7-2 against Ken Hamill of Lake Boga and Ken O’Bree of Murray Downs midway through the game, Smith and Bennett produced a memorable comeback to win 13-9.

Smith described the fightback as “fantastic” and said he was “very pleased” to secure his first pairings over-60s title.

Doreen Weaver from Moulamein Bowls Club won the women’s singles title.
