MOULAMEIN’S Doreen Weaver won the 60 & Over Singles for the Murray Mallee region last Sunday. She defeated Tyrrell’s Jen Blainey in the semi-final and followed up with a strong 21/15 win over Judy Osborne (Sunraysia) in the final.

In the men’s 60 & Over Singles, Norm Smith beat Mark Keenan (Tyrrell) in the semi but went down in the final 21/9 to Alan Erskine (Sunraysia) in the final.

With only two entrants in the women’s Novice Singles, the contestants were Laurel Dewhurst (Murray Valley) and Allison Medson (Northern District), Allison proved too experienced on the day, winning 21/8.

Rod Dewhurst (Murray Valley) played Joe Reid (Tyrrell), with Reid winning 21/13. Rodney Bannister (Northern District) was too good for Tony Cavallaro (Sunraysia). Bannister won 21/8. In the final, Bannister defeated Reid to take the title 21/15.

No regional events are scheduled for this weekend.
