Bowls Notes – Swan Hill

Swan Hill

DUE to a technical glitch from my end, our bowls news didn’t make it in time for last week’s Guardian.

What a difference one week can make in bowls! First match back after the holiday break, Swan Hill’s Division 1 made an excellent start for the last few rounds before finals.

They claimed all three rinks against Lake Boga only to be brought down to earth last Saturday, with Racecourse 1 taking all the points, two rinks were very close, but Swan Hill couldn’t make it over the line.

In Division 2, it has been the reverse, with Swan Hill losing three rinks against Murray Downs 2, only to lift their game last Saturday and win all three rinks against Racecourse 2.

Division 3 was also at Lake Boga first week back but was unable to match their opponents. Two rinks were very close.

Unfortunately, our Division 3 could not field a team last Saturday due to unforeseen circumstances.

This Saturday will see all three teams playing at home – Division 1 against Moulamein, Division 2 against Balranald and Division 3 against Tooleybuc 1.

We are at the pointy end of the season, Division 1 is fighting to stay in the four, while Division 2 still has a chance to make it into the four if things go their way.

Midweek Pennant in both Division 1 and 2 have had some rinks playing out close games each week.

Both Brian Mansbridge and Lyndon Shadbolt were chosen to play in the Murray Valley regional round-robin recently, which turned out to be a successful day for the Murray Valley. Kessada Smith gained valuable experience by filling in for the Tyrrell side.

Friday Frolic is back in action, commencing at 3pm each Friday. Names need to be in by 2.30pm to be in the draw. All are welcome, you don’t have to be a top bowler to join in, it is a good starting point to get a feel for bowls.

The jackpot has climbed and is worth winning. Play bowls and see if your lucky number is drawn out. Social activities in the clubhouse to end the day. Come along for happy hour, raffles and a chat, even if you are not playing bowls.

We extend our sympathy to the Seager family on the passing of Ted. Ted enjoyed his bowls and was respected by all who knew him.
