SWAN HILL

SWAN Hill bowls Division 1 couldn’t come up with the numbers last Saturday against Murray Downs 1 for the Summertime Pools Challenge.

Murray Downs claimed the Summertime Pools Pennant Shield for the second year running, since this challenge began.

Murray Downs won by 28 shots, claiming all three rinks, with Brian Mansbridge’s rink narrowly missing the win.

However, Swan Hill will finish the season fourth on the ladder, with every chance of raising their standard for a strong finish to the year.

Tomorrow Division 1 travels to Nyah for the last match before finals begin and will be looking to improve their game to build some confidence.

Division 2 for Swan Hill had a day out, winning all three rinks against Manangatang and finishing the day 22 shots up. Our two’s scraped into the four by two points, but will have to have a good day this Saturday against Murray Downs 3 at Murray Downs to stay in fourth place.

The Swan Hill Division 3 side will follow the two’s over the bridge to play Murray Downs 4 tomorrow. After winning two rinks against Racecourse 4 last week, the Division 3s still fell six shots short of a win. Many thanks to the substitutes that helped us field a team.

Division 2 for Swan Hill’s midweek pennant came home smiling on Tuesday after having a win against Murray Downs 5, with each team winning a rink.

They will be back to Murray Downs next Tuesday to play Murray Downs 4 in the last game for the season, while midweek Division 1 play Racecourse 1 at Racecourse for their last game next week.

Tuesday this week, our Division 1s played a very determined Lake Boga side, but unfortunately went down by six shots on each rink.

Friday Frolic will be on today for anyone who wishes to brave the forecast heat. For those who wish to keep cool in the clubhouse, cold drinks will be available at the bar for happy hour prices and you can try your luck for good prizes in Mick’s raffles.

Brian Richardson is still taking entries for the Classic on The Murray any combination 2 bowl triples, for Wednesday and Thursday, February 22 and 23. There’s excellent prize money and meals are included, please ring Brian on 0499 118 652 if you’re interested.

TOOLEYBUC

TOOLEYBUC played Racecourse 3 at Racecourse last Saturday with all three sides trying hard all day to keep up the good form from the previous week.

At the end of the day, all rinks were a close contest and ended as a draw overall. J.Armstrong’s rink won by five shots, while A.Adams’ rink went down by five shots and I.Hickey’s team had a draw – well done to all players.

This week Tooleybuc hosts Racecourse 4 in the last of the home and away matches, so let’s continue our good form again and come away with a win to finish the season.

Midweek pennant continued with their winning form from the previous week when they hosted Murray Downs 3 on Tuesday.
