MURRAY DOWNS
SOCIAL bowls were well attended last Thursday. The winners were a pair, Darryl Barry and Terry Pearse, also runners-up Ken O’Bree and Keith Burrage – well done.
Division 2 Weekend Pennant certainly provided much excitement last Saturday, with Teams 2 and 3 finishing with a draw and having to all play another end.
This resulted in Team 2 winning by the slightest of margins – one shot. They will now play Racecourse tomorrow in the grand final, as will Division 1.
Good luck to both teams.
Teams 4 and 5 were both beaten, however did very well to make the preliminary final.
Midweek Pennant Division 2 Teams 3 and 4 played against each other on Tuesday, with Team 3 winning and making it through to the grand final against Racecourse.
Good luck to Team 3 and Team 1 Division 1, who also play Racecourse.
After the grand final, all members and families are invited back to the John Mayer Pavilion for nibbles and drinks to celebrate the great pennant season and, hopefully, to celebrate two premierships.
Also, there will be an afternoon tea at the John Mayer Pavilion on Tuesday after the Midweek grand finals.
Everyone is welcome to come along and hopefully to celebrate another two premierships.
Barefoot Bowls is proving very popular, with 24 teams participating, enjoying themselves and discovering that any age group can come along and have fun.

Last Saturday saw an exciting, nail-biter, heart-stopper game in the Division 1 preliminary final at Swan Hill Bowls Club.
Swan Hill almost denied Racecourse 1 the chance to play in the grand final, with the winner being decided by the last bowl of the game. Swan Hill won two of the three rinks but still failed by three shots.
A high-profile sportsperson once said, “It is better to have played and lost than to have never played the game at all!”
Swan Hill Bowls Club would like to thank the volunteers who have helped both outside and inside the club for these busy events and during the pennant season.
Social bowls are back on the agenda on Wednesdays. The weather is more pleasant, and there are no pennant commitments.
