SOCIAL bowls last Thursday was played in beautiful conditions. Winners were Peter Furnell, Dianne Millstead and Bev McCartney.

Congratulations to both Weekend Pennant teams in Divisions 1 and 2.

It was a very exciting day with both teams winning and taking home the premiership medals, well done to all players.

President Shorty was very proud of his members on Saturday night. It was a great celebration to finish off the wins.

Congratulations also to the two Tuesday pennant teams. Division 1 was victorious and Division 2 went down by a very small margin.

Well done to both teams who celebrated the year afterwards at Murray Downs.

An overall fantastic year for Murray Downs teams to win three out of the four grand finals. Also, congratulations to the selectors on a job well done.

CONGRATULATIONS to Elaine Lawry, Peter Loughran, Lois Lockhar and Clive Power, who held their nerve on the final end of the Division 2 grand final and put Racecourse in the winning position.

Lorraine Loats, Kevin Vivian, Elizabeth Renney and Ian Lockhart finished their 25 ends with a six-shot lead in a terrific effort against top Murray Downs opposition.

Finishing a couple of ends behind, the Lawry combination was down by six and went to the last end with the match tied.

In a pulsating finale, all the Racecourse players excelled and put their team three shots up.

Commiserations to the other finalists – Teams 1, 2 and 3 of Saturday pennant, and Team 2 in Division 1 of Midweek Pennant – well done to get there, and you all did the club proud.

Good luck on the weekend to Mary Hooper, Mikaela Evans, Norm Smith, Glenn McIntosh and Graeme Bennett in various finals of the regional state events.

Swan Hill

SWAN Hill Bowls Club has been much quieter on the home front this week, pennant is now finished for the season.

Club games still need to be finalised, so for those that still have matches to play, please arrange to do so.

It would be good to see more turning up for social bowls on a Wednesday.

The weather is more bowler friendly, and it gives one a chance to improve their bowling skills, ready for future events.

Bring a friend and encourage new members. Names in prior to the starting time of 1pm.

Friday Frolic is another chance to play in a light-hearted, friendly competitive game. All are welcome to participate. Names in by 2.30pm for a 3pm start.

This Friday, the jackpot could hit $200. If it does and first number out doesn’t crack it, there could be a draw for a mini jackpot of $100.

Following bowls, there is always social interaction in the clubhouse and a chance to take home a raffle prize.

We are calling on all Armed Bowlers to enter our Bowling Arm Classic, being held on Tuesday, 21 March.
