Bowls Notes

SWAN HILL

DURING the winter months, Fridays are the day of action at Swan Hill Bowls Club, with Friday Frolic continuing to be well supported by members and visitors from local clubs.

Visitors who spend a few nights in Swan Hill and like to have a game of bowls often call in to our club, which included a couple from Coffs Harbour who took part in last Friday’s afternoon activities.

All are welcome to come along to Friday Frolic, enter your name in the draw by 2.30pm for a 3pm start.

New bowlers are most welcome, no experience necessary and bowls are available on loan if required, with a $5 entry fee, which also gives you the chance to go in the jackpot draw after the game.

Enjoy happy hour drinks and a hot snack in the clubhouse after the game and be sure and get tickets in Mick’s raffle, with good prizes to be won.

Wednesdays have become a practice afternoon at 1pm, until enough turn up to make a draw for a competition, with the off-season becoming a good chance to get some practice in, for when pennant resumes in October.

LAKE BOGA

PERFECT weather for winter bowls brought 36 players to Pelican Jackpot bowls last Saturday.

The winning team consisted of Daryl Barry, Brian Warren and Garry Cowland, with +11 shots, while David Condey, Danny Mitchell and Lyn Maher finished runners up with +5 shots.

The jackpot did not go off, so it now stands at $447 for next Saturday, with a reminder to have names in by noon for a 12.30pm start – please leave a message on the club phone.

Social bowls on Wednesday had Peter Snell and Keith Anderson taking home the prizemoney, with Danny Kelly and Billy King finishing in second place.

Next week’s social bowls will start with soup and a bread roll at 11.45am, with the game to start at 12.30pm. If you intend to play, please leave a message for catering.
