RACECOURSE

OUR jackpot bowls had its biggest attendance of the season on Wednesday, with 45 bowlers playing.

The winners, with two wins and +14 shots, were Ian Lockhart, Graeme Clark (Swan Hill) and Noel Delmenico (Murray Downs), while Ron Wolfe, Rob Rust and Max Parsons (Lake Boga) finished runners-up with one win and +17 shots.

The jackpot didn’t go off and will next week climb to $300.

This Sunday we have our Ash Roberts Homes any-combination triples, with matches starting at 12.30pm – please have names in by 11am on Sunday to play.

We have the Shepparton Bowls Shop setting up at our club on Sunday from about 11am, so if you require any bowls clothing or equipment, please come along and speak to Lee or Chantel and they will do their best to help.

On Sunday, September 10 our skins tournament will take place, with a starting time of 12.30pm. Please get your teams or names to Kevin Vivian on 0427 353 243.

SWAN HILL

SWAN Hill Bowls Club opening day any-combination triples tournament, in conjunction with RSL Diggers Day, will be held next Sunday, August 27.

The tournament will be played as three games of 10 ends, with there still being time to get your entries in by either phoning Bill King on 0428 324 083 or the Swan Hill Bowls Club on 5032 1772, or by putting your name on the club notice board, with entries to close at 9.30am on the day.

The entry fee is $45 per team or $15 for a single entry, with the chance to take home part of the $1000 prizemoney on offer.

As well as first, second and third prize, the best winning team in each game will receive their entry money back.

An RSL stand-to will take place at noon, with play to start at 12.30pm.

Afternoon tea is included, with members asked to please bring a plate.

Friday Frolic continues to be a popular event, with bowlers keen to get some practice in as they prepare for the coming pennant season, which is only a few weeks away.

Be sure and have your names in no later than 2.30pm for today’s game, and if the weather isn’t suitable, happy hour and Mick’s raffles will still be on, along with a friendly chat, while the kettle is always boiling for those who prefer a hot drink.

For those players that put their name down for the Quambatook practice match, please contact Brian Richardson for details on 0493 683 610.

Murray Valley Playing Area fixture books are now available at the bar when you pay your membership fees.

Also, please note in your diaries the date of Thursday, September 7, which is the date of our club general meeting at 2pm.

This will be an opportunity to be brought up to date with what is happening at your club and the 2023-24 season going forward.
