MURRAY DOWNS

SOCIAL bowls was enjoyed by 28 bowlers last Thursday. Congratulations to the winners Peter Brook, Geoff Seton-Stewart and Bev McCartney and runners-up Danny Kelly, Ceil McCaig and Jesse Cox.

The lucky number was not won, so it will jackpot until next week.

The Murray Downs v Barham bowling challenge was held last Sunday in perfect conditions. Murray Downs won, our third in a row.

Congratulations and well done to all our players who competed. The team of David Uebergang, Doug Fisher, Ceil McCaig and David Timmins had the highest score.

Thank you to the selection committee, the social committee, bar committee and Chris Power for organising the raffles, which were kindly donated by our sponsors.

A big thank you also to our greenkeeper Graeme, who makes our greens so enjoyable to play on.

SWAN HILL

SATURDAY pennant starts on Saturday afternoon and Swan Hill bowlers are anxious to get into the action, along with the other eight clubs in the Murray Valley competition.

Our Division 1 team will come up against Lake Boga and are expecting some strong competition, with our Division 2 team facing off against the competitive Murray Downs 3 side, and the Swan Hill Division 4 team playing Nyah District.

With all three Swan Hill teams playing at home, the greens are in top condition, with the rain this week being an added bonus.

Spectators are most welcome to come and observe, have a look and if you like what you see, consider giving bowls a try, with a sausage sizzle to follow, with all welcome to stay.

Good luck to all the bowlers, and may you have an enjoyable 2023-24 season.

Midweek pennant will commence this Tuesday, with our Division 1 team playing Racecourse at Racecourse, which always proves to be a highly contested match.

Our Division 2 side will travel to Tooleybuc, for what should also be a challenging game, with all players reminded to check the notice board to see where you are playing.

We welcome all new and intending bowlers to come along and join in the friendly atmosphere at our Friday Frolic social afternoon today, starting at 3.00pm, with entries to be in by 2.30pm prior to the start of play.

Our regular bowlers will be keen to have some practice in readiness for pennant on Saturday, and with happy hour drinks, light snacks and Mick’s raffle prizes, there’s plenty of fun in the clubhouse after the game.

LAKE BOGA

KERANG Golf played host to our second practice match in the lead-up to our district pennant season, which starts on Saturday.
