Racecourse set for president’s day

RACECOURSE

RACECOURSE Bowls Club held our jackpot bowls on Wednesday afternoon, with Ian Lockhart, Connie Rovere (Murray Downs) and Roy Jones declared the winners with two wins and finishing with +22 shots.

The runners-up, with one win and +11, were Geoff Coulter (Swan Hill), Lyndal Taylor and Rob Rust.

On Friday we have our president’s day any-combination fours event, sponsored by Elsteel and Roofing.

Please get your names in by 11am to participate, with Sharon’s Tea and presentations for the winners of our club events to follow.

Our next event is our Anzac Day any-combination triples, sponsored by the RSL Club and Three Arms Bistro, with names to be registered with Kevin Vivian on 0427 353 243.

SWAN HILL

EASTER is now behind us and the Swan Hill Bowls Club are making preparations for our 2024 Autumn/May Carnival, which begins on Saturday May 4 and comprises 10 days of various events.

Entries are coming in steadily, with program books available at the club and entries to be lodged with carnival secretary Bill King on 0428 324 083.

On Friday our Friday Frolic will take place at 3pm, with names to be entered by 2.30pm.

This is a good chance to keep up your bowling skills and enjoy yourself at the same time or even bring a friend along, with everyone welcome and no experience required.

Bowls are available at the club for anyone wishing to give the sport a try.

All who bowl will have a chance to win the jackpot.

Stay around and socialise after the game in the clubhouse, with light snacks, happy hour drinks and Mick’s raffles.

A team of Swan Hill bowlers travelled to Gunbower’s tournament last Sunday, while others have supported events at local clubs.

Swan Hill Bowls Club has also been popular with groups coming from the caravan park for barefoot bowls.

LAKE BOGA

AT social bowls on Wednesday we welcomed two new players, Nickie and Cloe Davis.

Winners on the day were Nola Bruton, Cloe Davis, John Walker and Bones Smith, while the runners-up were Barrie Free, Max Parsons, Mary Lynas and Lyn Maher.

There will be a general meeting of the club next Wednesday at 7.30pm — all are welcome.

We have our Catalina Classic on next weekend, Saturday April 20 and Sunday April 21, with a full field of 84 players at this stage.

There will be music on Friday evening and last-man-standing social bowls.

Jackpot bowls will be on tomorrow, with names to be in by noon for 12.30pm start.
