Greens make trip to Tooleybuc well worthwhile

MORE than 100 bowlers have travelled to Tooleybuc Sporting Club to take part in the club’s annual Invitation tournament.

Teams travelled from as far away as Ouyen, Finley/Picola, Manangatang, Balranald, Euston, Moulamein to compete in the event on March 23.

There was also strong support from local neighbouring clubs in Swan Hill, Murray Downs, Nyah and Lake Boga.

Tooleybuc Bowls Club member Margaret Button said visitors were full of praise for the event and the venue.

“It was very successful,” Button said.

“After a couple of years of not having both of our greens available, we had them both available this year.

“Everyone was pleased with the amenities and the way the Tooleybuc Sporting Club looked after them.”

The team from Picola were sure to make the drive worth their while, with the team skippered by Mare Lewis crowned the winners of the event.

Bowlers were kept happy on the sidelines and before the day’s play with an egg and bacon roll breakfast supplied for competitors in the morning and a hot lunch in the afternoon.
