RACECOURSE

Well done to D.J. Weaver (Racecourse) and Josh Thornton (Murray Downs) who played in the semi-final of the Para Physical State Pairs at Kangaroo Flat Bowls Club on ANZAC Day. The result was not known at the time of print, but they have done well to make it this far, and any further advances will be a bonus.

Racecourse social bowls on Wednesday was won by Graeme Bennett, Mary Hooper and Kevin Saville, with two wins and +23 shots, while finishing in second place was Glenn McIntosh, Kerry Jenkins and Phil Parry with one win and +16 shots.

Congratulations to Mick Holyoak, Glenn McIntosh and Graeme Bennett on their second place at the Lake Boga Catalina Classic last weekend, and to Norm Smith, Ron Wolfe, Glenn Bailey and Kylie Bailey on winning Diggers Day at Balranald.

The ladies meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 1, at 10am, with everyone asked to please bring a plate to share for morning tea after the meeting.

SWAN HILL

The 58th annual May/Autumn Carnival begins at the Swan Hill Bowls Club next Saturday, May 4, at 12pm, with now being the time to finalise your entries. Entries are flowing in from various parts of Victoria and from local bowlers also, with entry booklets available from the club or by contacting tournament secretary Bill King on 0428 324 083.

The program is as follows –

Saturday, May 4 – Men’s and Ladies Fours, 12pm start.

Sunday, May 5 – Mixed Fours (1 lady required in team), 12pm start.

Monday, May 6 – Ladies Pairs, 9am start, Men’s Pairs, 1pm start.

Tuesday, May 7th – Men’s and Ladies Fours, 12pm start.

Wednesday, May 8 – Mixed Triples, 12pm start.

Thursday, May 9 – Ladies Triples, 9am start. Men’s Triples, 1pm start.

Friday, May 10 – Mixed Pairs, 9am start. Mixed Pairs (second grouping), 1pm start.

Saturday, May 11 – Men’s and Ladies Fours, 12pm start.

Sunday, May 12 – Mixed Fours (1 lady required in team), 12pm start

Monday, May 13 – Any Combination 2 Bowl Triples, 12pm start.

Light lunch meals will be available to purchase at the club on Monday, Thursday and Friday, with Swan Hill members asked to assist in any way they can during the carnival, both outdoors and indoors. There are rosters on the ladies notice board for names to help with catering, with any queries regarding assisting to go through Bill King, Mick Balchin, Vic Plumridge or Lynda King.

Today is a good chance to get some practice in readiness for the May Carnival. Our Friday Frolic begins at 3pm, with entry before 2.30pm to go into the draw. Everyone is most welcome, with happy hour drinks, light snacks and Mick’s Raffles to follow after the game in the club house.

There are still some men’s club games to be finalised. Could the players concerned please arrange their matches as soon as possible.

Finally, a date for your diary, with the Swan Hill Bowls Club annual meeting to be held on Thursday, June 6 at 2pm.
