Bowls notes, July 5

SWAN HILL

THERE was another good roll-up for Friday Frolic last week. The sunshine brought a few extras out of the woodwork, with visitors from Lakes Entrance taking part, plus three French backpackers who enjoyed the social activities after the game.

The jackpot went over $200, but there wasn’t a team lucky enough to have the lucky number. So there was a rolling draw done for $115, with many numbers being drawn out before Noel Hender and Barry Dickenson were left grinning from ear to ear.

This Friday is forecast to be nice and sunny, with the jackpot to begin at $100, plus $1 for every bowler who plays.

Players should enter their names by 2.30pm this Friday to take part and be ready to be out on the green by 2.45pm, then can stay on to socialise in the clubhouse after the game.

On July 12, there will be the second Friday alternate game, when players can enter a team for the 2pm any-combination triples event, which consists of two games of 10 ends.

Single entries will be accepted, providing there are enough entered to make up teams, with all entries to be entered by 1pm. Entry is $10 per player for the casual-dress event.

Good prizemoney is on offer, along with the regular social activities, hot snacks, happy-hour drinks or hot drinks available and the jackpot will be on.

To enter, contact Graeme Clark on 0417 409 703 or Bill King on 0428 324 083, or ring the bowls club on 5032 1772.

LAKE BOGA

AT Wednesday’s social competition 22 players competed in perfect winter conditions in a pairs format with revolving skippers.

The winners, with two wins and a score of +23, were Max Parsons and Rod Dewhurst, while finishing second with two wins also and a score of +8 were ‘Bones’ Smith and Terry Haw.

The Pelican jackpot was washed out last week, so the club looks forward to resuming the competition this Saturday, when the jackpot will stand at $380. Names should be in by noon for a 12.30pm start.

NYAH WEST
