RACECOURSE

WEDNESDAY’S jackpot bowls was played in perfect conditions, with plenty of sunshine and 42 players participating.

The winners for the day were Trevor Wiseman, Clive Power and Clark Jenkins with two wins and +16 shots, while the runners-up, with one win and +7 shots, were Ian Lockhart, Kevin Saville and Connie Rovere (Murray Downs).

This Sunday we have our Graeme Hayes any-combination triples event, starting at 12.30pm, with all names to be into Kevin Vivian on 0427 353 243.

On Sunday, August 11, the club will be holding our annual Musty’s Day event, with the format being an any-combination triples casual-dress event, with all proceeds going to the cancer foundation.

There will be a barbecue lunch starting at 11.30am with bowls starting at 12.30pm.

There will be an enormous number of raffles to be won after the day’s play.

The day is a fun afternoon of competition, with the winners’ names also going on the honour board.


SWAN HILL

THIS Friday the Swan Hill Bowls Club will be holding their mini tournament, when bowlers are able to enter their own team for the any-combination triples event commencing at 2pm, with entries to close at 1pm sharp to enable the draw to be completed.

Singles entries will be accepted, providing there are enough to make up a team at a cost of $10 per player.

There is good prizemoney on offer, along with the jackpot draw, casual dress and all the usual activities that take place after the games in the clubhouse, so come along and enjoy a social afternoon of bowls.

Saturday, August 10 and Sunday, August 11 will be our two-day Classic on the Murray event.

There are a few limited spots available, so if you wish to enter a team, you better get in quick by contacting Mick Balchin on 0428 553 913.

Next Friday the club will revert to our normal Friday Frolic event, with names to be in by 2.30pm and ready for a 3pm start.


LAKE BOGA

SOCIAL bowls winners this week was the team skippered by Jean Leach and consisting of Nickie Davis, Peter Snell and Max Parsons, with the quartet the only team to finish with two wins, as well as a score of plus 11.

The runners-up, with a win and a draw, was the team skippered by Terry Haw and consisting of John Walker and Les Grey.

The pelican jackpot returns this week at $198 after failing to be claimed last week.

Although the matches started in sunshine last Saturday, we had to shorten the last game because of the rain and cold. The weather will hopefully be kinder this week.


NYAH DISTRICT

WHAT a great day we had for our club’s social bowls, Christmas in July event, with 30 players and the men defeating the ladies, although the ladies did give the men a good game.

The resting touchers went to Daniel Wynne, Alex Smith, Max Parsons and Noel Hender.
