SWAN Hill Bowls Club will be holding its usual Friday Frolic social game for all to come and enjoy.
There is no need for experience to join in and play on this social afternoon. Bowls are available to borrow.
All you need to do is enter your name by 2.30pm, ready for a 3pm start. Entrants can ring ahead on 5032 1772.
For bowlers preparing for the pennant season, this is an ideal way to have some practice.
The jackpot is gradually rising. Come up with the lucky number and become a winner.
Enjoy happy-hour drinks along with a hot snack in the clubhouse after the game, take part in Mick’s raffles, vying for that elusive prize.
Bill King is calling on the armed-bowling brigade to enter teams or single entries for the exclusive Bowling Arm Classic.
The honour-board event will be held on Sunday, September 29 at 1noon. A cuppa is available on arrival.
The format is any-combination triples, $15 per player, and afternoon tea included.
Prizemoney of $900 will be distributed across first, second and third places and the best winning games.

Last Sunday Quambatook bowlers visited for an annual challenge match against Swan Hill bowlers.
Swan Hill took out the trophy for the second year in a row, even though Quamby won several rinks. Three games for the day was a great leveler.
Sincere thanks to all who helped on the day, especially the volunteer barbecue cook.
Appreciation to the ladies who prepared and served the lunch meal, as well as the delicious afternoon tea provided by the members.
Murray Downs
THE 2024-25 bowls season begins next month with many tournaments being held in preparation.
Murray Downs held its opening tournament last Sunday, when 66 players took part from various neighbouring clubs.
Congratulations to the winners Glenn McIntosh, Peter Loughran and Graeme Bennett from Racecourse.
Runners-up were the team of Buck Lehmann, Cecilia McCaig (Murray Downs) and Ian Lockhart (Racecourse).
Third-placegetters were Norm and Marg Smith and Rob Rust from Racecourse, all three-game winners.
There were seven players who had resting touchers – Graham Borchard, Grant Davies, Ken Hamill, Kerry Jenkins, Bruce McDonald, Kerry Power and Rex Howard. Well done.
A special mention to the ladies who helped out with the afternoon tea and to Teresa and Sharon, who kept up with the scores during the day, your help is very much appreciated.
The raffle money collected was donated to the “Good Kitchen” Swan Hill.
Social bowls last week was played in beautiful conditions with 29 players taking part.
There were two two-game winners and congratulations to Peter Furnell, Elaine Lawry and Lindsay Toomer, who won with 53 shots, with runners-up Darryl Barry, Dawne Holland and Mac Angus on 52 shots.
Duty members for Thursday are Greg Robertson and Harry Whitford.
A reminder to members to collect the Murray Downs Bowls Club 2024-25 bowlers’ information booklet and the Murray Valley Playing Area 2024-25 fixture booklet, which are both in our Murray Downs bowls office.
Pennant practice is held each Friday from 4pm.
Players who haven’t put their names on the lists on the noticeboard for Midweek and Saturday pennant competitions should do so as soon as possible.
Midweek Pennant begins on the Tuesday, October 8, and Weekend Pennant begins on Saturday, October 12.
Lake Boga
WITH the Pelican Jackpot standing at $486, 54 players enjoyed an afternoon of bowls.
While the wind made bowling challenging, three bowlers went home with a smile on their face and a $162 extra in their pocket.
They were Bruce Horsburgh, Cloe Davis and Kiley Baily. While they did not have a winning score from bowls, all they needed was a score of -15 to win, which they did.
The winners for the competition were Arthur Threadgold, Lee Tompsett and Max Lord, runners-up were John McCormack, Basil McDonald and Tony Evans.
The only resting toucher for the day was awarded to Lee Tompsett.
Winners for social bowls this week on Wednesday were Mick Tempini, Stuart Tompsett and John Walker. Runners-up were Ron Atkinson, Ian Ross and Cloe Davis.
A reminder to club members to put their names down if you intend to play in the two practice matches before pennant competition starting this year.
The dates are Kerang, at home, on September 27 and Cohuna, at Cohuna, on October 6.
We also want to congratulate head greenkeeper Ken Hamill on reaching the age of 80 last Tuesday.
Congratulations Ken from club members and we hope that there are plenty more birthdays to come.
