Place in grand final on line

NORTHERN Valley Premier League action is set to continue this weekend, with a spot in the grand final on the line.

Ladder leaders Cohuna Golf will be facing Murray Downs in what will no doubt be a fantastic match.

Cohuna Golf, who have been undefeated for most of the season, are now looking a little bit shaky, having lost two weekends in a row against Kerang.

“Of course we believe we can beat them,” Murray Downs skipper Josh Thornton told The Guardian.

“They (Cohuna Golf) have lost two games in a row and all the pressure is on them.

“We are the underdogs and we will be playing with no fear.”

The Rams have faced Cohuna Golf two times prior this weekend, with Cohuna Golf winning the first match comfortably.

The second game was a bit more difficult at Murray Downs with the Rams winning on two rinks but Cohuna Golf had the most shots all up so they got the extra six points which gave them the win.

The preliminary final will be played at Cohuna Bowls Club, the same venue that hosted the semi final last weekend.

Considering it is a neutral turf, it will all come down to how the green is prepared, what the weather conditions will be like and who will want to take the win more.

“It would be fantastic if we managed to make it to the grand final,” Thornton said. “We believe not only that we can win this weekend, but if we do, win it all.

“I think anybody being an inaugural winner of anything is always special.”
